Although predominantly found within bunkers, this fitting was recovered from a decommissioned mining facility within Ostrava – the industrial powerhouse of Czechoslovakia. This pendant was used to illuminate the passageways surrounding one of the main blast furnaces; it had been in place for nearly forty years. The aluminium casing remained in remarkable condition so we made the decision to exhibit this pendant in its bare-metal form. Following a gentle vapour blasting process, all contaminants were removed from the mouldings, exposing the beautiful surface textures left behind when it was originally casted.
