Following the swift invasion and occupation of Poland by Germany at the outset of World War Two, the post-war years unsurprisingly saw a significant investment into its military to prevent future invasions. The arms manufacturer ‘Zaklady Metalowe MESKO’ benefited hugely from this government investment and grew to such an extent that it was able to diversify into varied markets when Poland’s economy once again began to flourish. One such market was industrial lighting; the military influence in their lighting designs is obvious and incredibly unique amongst industrial lighting designs of the Cold War era.

This light was salvaged from a decommissioned appliance factory in Gdansk where its large aperture allowed the illumination of expansive areas. The restoration of this fitting involved re-enamelling in the traditional silver livery she would have worn when first produced. Characterised by a rectangular steel junction box sitting atop an impressive steel enclosure, interesting latticework cage and original stamped identification plate.

This light arrives complete with its original restored lamp holder with E27 socket, two metres of black cable, two metres of steel chain and a ceiling mounting plate. Complete and ready to hang.
