Beautiful cast aluminium factory pendants by Polam Wilkasy. Each lamp is characterised by a beautifully aged aluminium casing, clear glass light well and rugged protective cage – all tied together with their original nickel-plated fixings. These lights not only provide industrial charm, they boast a softness that will calm the atmosphere of a room.

History

Created in the 70’s/80’s by the Polish lighting manufacturer ‘Polam Wilkasy’. The smaller size of these pendants made them extremely popular in industrial installations which were subject to remodelling. Their solid cast aluminium construction and sealed structure provided a resilience that would guarantee a long service life in volatile environments. Their overengineered design firmly ranks them in the ‘explosion-proof’ category of industrial lighting of the cold war era.

About

Recovered from a decommissioned ceramics factory in Ostrava, Czech Republic; these pendants had remained in remarkably good condition. Through a process of vapour blasting, the aluminium castings have been carefully preserved so, crucially, they still retain their priceless evidence of age.

Each fitting arrives complete with its original restored E27 lamp holder, one metre of black cable, one metre of steel chain and a ceiling mounting plate. Complete and ready to hang.
